4Go for it....but only if you're part of the gaming minority.Nov 18, 2001

I only suggest you buy/rent this game if you: A- Are in possesion of an Xbox, and B- If you've never played Tony Hawks 1 & 2 before.

I've never played Tony Hawk parts 1 & 2, so this was a great buy for me, however, I only have two complaints so far: Even though it's on Xbox, it still plays really slow when compared to Tony Hawk 3 for the PS2. The other complaint I have, would be the lack of pre-made button configurations(there's only one).

So far, other than the two aforementioned flaws, I've been pretty pleased with this game.

5A + game!Oct 14, 2002

when i bought this game, i was expecting a great game. Well, when i bought it, i was surprised to find that it was a spectacular game! I t takes advantage of the xbox's capabilities.
The graphics are so realistic! if anybody tells you the graphics arent amazing, than they must have been expecting them to look like they had been taken with a video camera! There is endless fun in the game.

When you are playing a game, there are 3 things that make the game good or bad.
1: graphics- does the character look like blurry blob of colors? certainly not in this game. they are so realistic. for example, if you fall really badly then you will see blood next to your skater laying on the ground. from 1-10 THPS2x gets a 9.0
2: gameplay- is it hard to learn the controls? does looking at your controller and thinking about the buttons to be pressed suck the fun out of the game? activision continues to do a great job with the controls. it must have been hard to come up with controls for a skateboarding game. Other games, like a hockey game, making the controls is easy- 1 button is pass, one button is shoot, one button is check etc,but in THPS2x they manage to make the controls just as easy. i give the gameplay and 8.5
3:value- will this game be fun for a couple of days and then get boring? will you waste your money on a game that keeps you entertained for a couple of hours? not if you buy this game. i have had this game since april (i think) and whenever i get the chance i pick it up and play it. there are 3 parts to the game: improved levels from THPS2 , the new levels just for this game, and improved levels from THPS. all of the parts are extremely fun and entertaining. THis is how the game works. you start out playing the first level from thps2. when you acheive a certain amount of goals, you go to the next one. once you beat the first group of levels, you go onto the next group. you can do this with one of the 10(?) pro skaters that are available or you can create your own skater. if you beat the game a certain amount of times (i wont give it away) you can unlock many cool cheats like moon physics and unlimited balance and unlock skaters like spiderman and a donut eating police man. and if you get bored with the 24(?) levels (which is highly unlikely) you can build your own skatepark.want to show your friends the cool new game you got? you can play with up to 4 people in 5 awesome multiplayer games. get the point? from 1-10 in value this game gets an 11.
i hope you liked my review and i hope it was helpful!! :)

5Tony Hawk gets it again!Oct 10, 2001

Whether you have THPS 1 or 2 or both you should still buy it.
Better graphics and control-(pretty amazing)! Also more skaters and levels. If your're thinking of buying an Xbox this is reason enough!

5For those of us who loved the first 2...Sep 24, 2002

This is a great game if you can find it. Priced now at some places for less then ten bucks, this is a must-own for all skateboarding/Tony Hawk Loving/video game freaks. Heres why I think you should buy TH2x, for the XBOX.

1) Gameplay: This really is 2 games in 1. It has the ENTIRE Tony Hawk 2 game in here, with the same challenges and stuff. Only with a ton of improvements. The graphics are so much better (get to that later), you can now listen to your own music on the hard disk, you can create a person (more options and...better graphics). Just about everything is better. But that's just the beggining. Once you beat the game, you unlock 2x mode. What's that?

2x mode is basilcy a whole new game, with 5 BRAND *NEW* levels for your XBOX to enjoy. You can basicly complete different goals, but instead of getting cash, you get tapes (wow, CREATIVE!). When you get a certain number of tapes, you earn a new park to skateboard in. And, again, you can listen to your own music, and the graphics kick...toosh!

2) Graphics: HUGE improvement. Example, instead of grass just being a flat surface colored green, it has individual blades of grass, blowing in the wind, getting crushed and loose when you skate over it. Everything is sharper, more clear and focused. And, while certain areas didn't really get touched upon, the things that did (example: the snow in The Hangar), are much appreciated. Excellent job Activision, you realized that the XBOX has more power than the PlayStation!

Seriously though, the graphics look a TON better. Definantly worth the work. Almost a new game.

3) Multiplayer: Basicly everything #2 had, including the same places to skate (plus the new 2x levels), all the same games (Trick Run, Tag, Horse, Free Skate, etc...). Now with the ability to play with 4 controller, and AGAIN, listen to your own music.

Great game, worth your buy if you find it. Everything that was #2 with the power of XBOX, Personal Soundtracks, and new levels to try. All for less than 10 bucks in most places.

Definantly reccomended.

Thx!

5The Game That Started It AllJul 18, 2002

The packaging can be a little deceptive, but this game contains all the levels of Tony Hawk 1 and Tony Hawk 2, plus 5 levels exclusively for the Xbox. The levels from THPS 1 & 2 have been redone, with better graphics added such as grass (which you have to see cause it's amazing). Even if you beat those games years ago this is still a fantastic addition to any video game collection because these are games that never get old to play. Even with the release of Tony Hawk 3, these games have a steadfast value because they have AMAZING gameplay.
This is a must have title, and a great value because it is essentially two great games in one.
