5If you've ever surfed, or ever dreamed of surfing, get it.Nov 01, 2001
By Scot
If you surf, or would like to know what it's like, this is your game. The graphics are intense. Each character even has the exact look and personal style of the real-life surfer after which it was modeled. Each spot in the game is soooo true to life. I've had the great fortune of traveling to some of the spots in this game and from the landscapes to the way the individual waves break, this game nails it! You will actually duck down and to the left when your surfer pulls in at Pipe, Teauphoo, or G-land! Plus, you can push maneuvers that you probably wouldn't try at some florida beach break much less these heavy-hitting marquis spots -- darkslides at Cloudbreak?? Superman airs at Todos?? Stale 540's at Pipe??

If your idea of fun is collecting glowing orbs on screen or shooting things full of holes, go ahead, get one of the 1000 other titles out there. As for me, I haven't really been interested in most of the games out there in the past -- even hawk -- but, I am actually getting the xbox because this game For the first time, a surfing game gets it right.

Go surfing in your living room.

5As close as I will ever get to surfingJan 31, 2002
By Eric
I have never played a surfing game before, but I took a chance with this one based upon the good reviews here. I can definitely say that this one is worth the money!

As other current generation games, Transworld Surf takes advantage of the ability to create very realistic water effects. Of the water games that I have seen (Spyhunter for PS2, Splashdown for PS2), this one definitely is in the running for most realistic in its presentation.

The levels are very challenging and appear to increase in difficulty as one moves through the game. Some of the level objectives are a bit frustrating, but usually there are enough objectives to allow the player to "switch gears" if the frustration level gets too high. And if the objectives get old, one can always free surf and practice the tricks that become necessary in later levels.

As with other games that award points based on tricks during a run, maximum scores occur when one puts as much variation into the run as possible. This may be the cause of some of the frustration surrounding this game's learning curve. I have found that concentrating on a few easy tricks first (floaters, board grabs, cutbacks and barrel rides) allowed me to become proficient enough to begin to move on to tricks of medium difficulty. I was able to become relatively proficient over the course of about 4 hours of gameplay.

But the difficulty coupled with the exhilarating graphics and my quest for the "perfect run" has made this game one of the best that I have played in some time.

5GREAT GAME!!!Nov 30, 2001
By Shane
I am not a game freak and never cared for any other game systems before since the Super Nintendo. I got an X-Box specifically for this game. I have been surfing for 15 years and when I first began to play this game for the first time, I was laughing in amazement. This game has VERY REAL looking graphics especially on waves. The music is cool too. If you are an experienced surfer and you like games, GET THIS! You have to adjust yourself in the tube on the game like you do when you are surfing. I learned this game pretty easy so far. You have to know the timing in surfing to help learn this game faster. If you get to far back in the tube, the control begins to vibrate. CRAZY...HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS GAME!!

5Fun - I play this game more than any otherDec 24, 2001

I'm not a surfer but do like water sports etc. I like games like Tony Hawk. This surfing game is really fun; i don't judge games like everyone else re: to Halo etc, but if i sit down and just enjoy playing a game a lot, then it is a good game. I could tell you about the music or if it is close to real surfing or not (but really who cares) because my point is that for [the money] I'm probably getting my money's worth because i keep playing and enjoy it. i think the graphics are really good; for me this is a game i'm glad i bought and i'm not planning on even trading it in, for me it'll become a classic i keep there with THPS
