Description:

The classic original Beatles studio albums have been re-mastered by a dedicated team of engineers at Abbey Road Studios in London over a four year period utilising state of the art recording technology alongside vintage studio equipment, carefully maintaining the authenticity and integrity of the original analogue recordings. The result of this painstaking process is the highest fidelity the Beatles catalogue has seen since its original release.

Within each CD's new packaging, booklets include detailed historical notes along with informative recording notes. For a limited period, each CD will also be embedded with a brief documentary film about the album. The newly produced mini-documentaries on the making of each album, directed by Bob Smeaton, are included as QuickTime files on each album. The documentaries contain archival footage, rare photographs and never-before-heard studio chat from The Beatles, offering a unique and very personal insight into the studio atmosphere.

They could have went furtherJun 13, 2010
Sounds great, but they could have went further. These remasters are very inconsistent. I feel like they held back. Overall this wasn't worth the wait, but they are still better then the 1987 versions.

The Beatles CD I had ordered from Amazon is fantastic.I'm 50 yrs. old and I have 2 older sisters that had the albums at one point in time and I haven't heard the music for years.I turned on Showtime because they had a free weekend and they had previews of how they put the beatles circ de solei together and I heard the song,No Reply at the end and I just wanted to see if anybody handled that music.The Cd came within 5 days and I have really, really played and enjoyed the music alot.It' so well worth $14.00.Thank you Amazon.com.

The Beatles were hot in 1964 and like everyone, I couldn't get enough of them (still can't it seems). So, I was overjoyed when my dad got me this record. Back then, getting imports was not so easy, but my dad owned a record store on Hollywood Boulevard and imported a lot of records and that was good for me. This record, number four for the Beatles, depending on how you count them, has the Fab Four going in a different direction. Lennon's songwriting has changed some, the band is tighter, well that's my opinion.

I've read that Bob Dylan influenced John Lennon's writing by this time and that "I'm a Loser" is a result. I don't know if that's true. Bob Dylan was a huge influence to be sure, but John Lennon was, too. Still, it's a great song as are all the songs on this record. I particularly like the cover of Buddy Holly's "Words of Love". They do a great job of chuck Berry's "Rock and Roll Music" as well. I used to play this record all the time, but not as much as their US release of their "Second Album" which I really loved and couldn't get enough of. But by far my favorite song on this record is "I'll Follow the Sun". Mac is in fine voice, the other guys are too, they're in fine voice all over this record, which is truly one of the best records to come out in 1964, even if it didn't come out in America.

BEATLES FOR SALE has an apt title. The Beatles were in the midst of selling themselves to the world and this rushed CD is the result of too little time to record and write. There are a number of gems here like Lennon's "I'm a Loser" which would have fit in on later more sophisticated recordings, the bouncy (Dig those claps!) "8 Days A Week," and John's cover of Berry's "Rock and Roll Music" that makes for an intriguing interpretation of Berry's original. But there's too much filler here, from Ringo's beloved "Honey Don't" to the particularly weak inclusion of "Mr. Moonlight," (WHY?)this has enough to listen to but I would be surprised if it spent as much time getting played as other Beatle recordings.

Just a great album of original and cover tunes by the greatest band that ever was. I was impressed with the liner notes and documentary too.
