Description:

Any new gaming console needs to offer a quality fighting game at launch, and for the Xbox that title is Tecmo's Dead or Alive 3. Though DOA3 doesn't revolutionize the fighting genre, it does offer a great gaming experience, and its graphics easily surpass every other fighting game on the market--on any system. DOA3 offers eight modes of play, including story, team battle, tag battle, and sparring. Sparring mode is customizable and is a nice way for new players to learn how to play the game, while story mode lets you take one of the 16 available characters through a series of matches culminating in a fight against the über-powerful Omega. Once you defeat Omega, a short movie specific to your character is unlocked. The story mode doesn't make a lot of sense (and the dialogue is laughable) but the end movies are pretty cool, and it's fun playing through the game as each of the characters.

4Dead or Alive 3, Original XboxAug 19, 2010
Some people may experience a seizure when exposed to certain visual images in video games, including suitgirls clad with `Pleaser Women's Seduce-3000' Thigh-High Boots. If your daughter gets lightheaded, stop playing Dead or Alive 3, and consult a doctor immediately- -children and teenagers are more likely than adults to experience these seizures. This Xbox Platinum Hit ain't just a fighting game; but rather, phenomena of pendulum cinematics.

A peek at the game's photography treats you to any and all 3-D objects, constructed taut from A to Zêta. Mishaps of Mother Nature: rays of snowflakes, ice platybucks, Auburn Woodberry, palm trees at the flipside, ravaged beaches along shorelines, sunlit afternoons via Lost World, cement-drenched pavements, steel steaming alkali, DOATEC Glass that shatters upon Hong Kong, and the naturaleza of a flaming candle. On one hand or another, there are too many awesome details to chat of in this review. These graphics do not go by unnoticed, plus the bodies of non-masculine ninjas such as Half-Sister Ayane, Espionage Kasumi, and Pi Qua Quan Helena (dolphin stripper) have muscles that pulsate to the rhythm of their pitching boobs.

Any one soundtrack differs from another, and the compilation of Tecmo's `Dead or Alive 3' is no stranger. Not only does it support Dolby Digital 5.1ch output, it makes with hard rock performances by "The Bad Boys from Boston," Aerosmith. Players can hook their Xbox Unit to a set of speakers and either use an Xbox Advanced AV Pak or an Xbox High Definition Pak. The audio is both crisp and pure; these traits force gamers to immerse into the gameplay. It is the beast of music's beauty.

Rule of thumb: read a game's instruction manual PRIOR to playing. `Major League Baseball 2K5' and `High Rollers Casino' are two Xbox games that include instruction manuals, and for reasons which need no explanation. Rules are to be understood, not only for us to enjoy the game that we play, but also to accept any limitations that apply to our gaming skills. But because Team NINJA programmed `Dead or Alive 3' so well, there is an exception to this rule of thumb. Gamers follow the on-screen instructions at the boot menu, plus the gameplay itself offers helpful cues such as "Counter Blow" or "2-Hit Combo! Critical Hit!"

That said, I do not like the controls. Combat combos are executed with "Y" and "B" presses at rampant; furthermore, running requires tapping the Directional-Pad two times and ONLY two times. This increases challenge for numb. Why not have one `run button?' Note that a "D-Pad-To-Dash" control scheme is found in older fighting games such as Clayfighter 63 1/3 or WCW Nitro (Nintendo 64). The pace tends to forge gamers inside situations that they dread: a character who crawls away from battle in the hidden isles, or tag team matches involving two wrestlers whom (for their reasons) have problems with running. "D-Pad-To-Dash" is a gimmick that does not work.

There is a `Sparring Mode' selection two links left to the `Options' mode. Gamers can practice with CPU opponents, not to mention the command lists provided at the pause menu. And when playing with `The German Karate Master,' Hitomi, you should expect that. Without the tutelage skills of a woman, the DOA (Dead or Alive) Tournament would consume Sachertorte Baking under secondary-school authority.

3DOA 3 Somewhat dissapoitingMar 21, 2009
When I first heard DOA 3 was coming out I had high expectations for the game since the previous game DOA had impressed me with gorgeous graphics, an amazing soundtrack and a smooth fighting system. When I first played DOA 3 it looked just like DOA alive 2 until you actually start fighting. The feeling is just not the same. Sure there are more characters and new locations, but it doesn't take away from the fact that the fighting system sucks

4What else can you say about this game??Jan 07, 2008
Ok first off let me say that I dont really do the fighting game scene, I am an RPG/Sports and FPS (First person shooter) person... but my friend came over and said hey put this in. The next thing I know its four hours later and everyone that was there was calling for the controller. This game has some awesome graphics, easy controls so for all you novices out there (and i mean that in a good way) it wont be too hard to just jump into the game. Its story line is good even though it is a little bit short. Which in my opinion is the only downfall of the game. They have some great cut scenes and you which ever character you use, you learn a little more about why they are there and what they are doing for it. but like i said that is the only downfall of this game. If you are looking for a game that you can play with friends or by yourself then this is for you.

4Dead or Alive 3 defines what a fighter should be with it's amazing visuals and sound, but other than that, it's ordinaryDec 28, 2006
A step ahead from Dead or Alive 2. The story is about a fighting tournament which offers a big cash reward. Each fighter is in it for a certain reason whether it is for glory, riches, or to confront another in a fight. Now, what do you notice, first of all? The graphics! The graphics are well detailed and it's near the summit of graphic design.

The soundtrack is great and features bands like Aerosmith. Each character has their own theme song. Attacks, moves, and crashes have relistic sounds to them. The Story Mode is good. You can play the role of each character and then unlock their movie clips and costumes. There is a practice mode where you can practice your techniques. A Time Survival mode where you try to beat the enemies fast. There is a tag team mode where each character can tag in. One fights while one heals. There is team battle where each player can have up to 5 characters and they duke it out.

The character variety is awesome. You got the slow, but powerful characters. You have the fast, but weaker characters. You have the average characters. Each character is good at something like punches, kicks, crunches, and a mix of some of those. There are over a hundred moves for each character and plenty of combos to try out. The settings can set the difficulty, the controls, and the sound which is decent. The environments are beautiful. Some have electric walls. Some have areas to fall. Some have little and some have plenty when it comes to space. This game is great for multiplay and for single play. The game is a step up from most fighters, but it's not anything that a game hasn't done before. All in all, DOA fans will love this. 2d Fighting fans will love this. You can punch, kick, grab, defend, and pull of combos. The game can be beaten easily unless you challenge yourself, but never the less, this game has a thick amount of replay value.

Pros: Beautiful graphics with detailed characters and environments. Fighting gameplay is great and a nice soundtrack to go with it. Good selection of characters and many modes to play in. Multiplayer is very entertaining and the game has juicy amount of replay value.

Cons: Behind the stunning graphics and sound, the game isn't that much innovative to other fighters.

4Not bad at allNov 08, 2005
This game has a lot of potential. Anybody notice the feet are too big, though? Anyway, the fighting moves are really on point. The grappling moves look good, not generic like other games where characters are automatically in a takedown or hold. The female wrestler should probably have her own game as well, with other wrestler type characters. Maybe we can have her do a guest appearence on the next Rumble Roses game? Oh well. The game can get boring after a while, with little extras. And yes, the women are great to watch in action. Almost famous for this one.
