2When it works, it works great but it is junkJul 06, 2010
Before I trash the quality of this product I have to say this. If this wasn't made so poorly it would get 5 stars all around because it works great when it works. You have to make adjustments to your controller sensitivity settings for each game and well as use the sensitivity wheel on the controller itself, but you can pretty much get PC like gameplay out of nearly any game.

Now the downside... I owned 2 of the Frag FX2 controllers and my second one is about to die. Keep in mind I had to send both back within a month of their purchase back to Splitfish in Canada because they failed. Software glitches and bad hardware caused certain features of the controller to quit working. The first one the whole mouse optical eye failed so that it couldn't aim. I just used to the second while I emailed Splitfish for the warranty and it too failed, brand new out of the box a week later. On the second unit, directional pad ceased to function. I sent them both in and about 2 weeks later received two new ones back from Splitfish. I used one for approximately 6 months before the same thing happened, the optical eye died. So I boxed that away and used the second one. This one has lasted exactly 6 months and now the left analog stick is dying.

Now when I had the version one, it finally failed after almost 2 years because the wires frayed on the mouse cable from being used so much. Version 2 was no improvement at all and I'm a big skeptic on the version 3 wireless one.

3Meh..Jun 26, 2010
The fragfx v.2 worked pretty good. I was pleased with the performance but then out of nowhere after 3 days of having it the mouse completely stopped working...so that sucks

3Nice, but not perfect. But it does the job!!!!Apr 07, 2010
I've been looking for a solution in PS3 FPS games, since I've been playing on PC from 1998 until now.
FragFx V2 does not emulate perfectly a PC mouse, specially if you are a pro mouse player who spends lots of money on a rat just for gaming. The fact is that FragFx V2 is a solution for those who got really upset when bought a PS3 expecting to have the same agility you used to have with a mouse.

The good thing is that it gets close to a mouse in macro movements. When you get to micro movements, such as snipers require, you get some delays from your hands to the movement on game. Of course, with some practice, you can get over it and get close to play as you used to with your PC mouse. The trick is to use the max sens in game and low sens at the FragFx (yes, you can adjust it mechanically in the nunchuck) . It helps a lot.

The bad thing is that the learning curve takes some time. Since I'm a weekend player, I took about a month to get used to the gadget. Oh, almost forgot to mention that the build quality is low!!! The buttons doesn't click because of the pressure sensitivity device, plastic build looks cheap and it is wired.

All in all, I was very happy to get some agility back to enjoy PS3 online gaming. I gave 3 stars on this product because of the delay on micro movements and the cheap build quality.

1I've Owned 3 (Three) Split Fish Mice....Apr 03, 2010
I play MAG, now, semi-hardcore (~200 hours). However, I bought this mouse for Uncharted 2 online, and I bought 2: the first was used and the second was new.

================================================
Before I begin my "Over-all play review" is: I want everyone to know that I play BETTER with this mouse than I did a normal controller. I loved it while it worked!!!!! However, these mice still scroll like a normal controller. AKA: I move the mice at X speed = pushing the joystick X amount of it's full directional push.
================================================

****So why am I giving this controller a 1 out of 5 stars?...

The first Split Fish Mouse that I owned was bought "Used - Like New" (On Amazon.com) and it started failing (Scrolling left + down all the time all the time) on me after ~80-100 Hours of play. I attributed it to me being "con-ed" into buying it (Used... not new), but I decided it was good enough to buy a new one.

I bought a new one. Now, less than 100 hours of play time, I have found it making another set of random mistakes (Pushing start and R3 all the time, now---Which is "kill self" on MAG). A different set of arbitrary glitches!

Not only that, the second mouse "played" (Felt?) differently. It did not mouse-scroll the same as the first one.

******************EDIT 3-14*****************
So I bought a new one of these and figured I would just rotate warranties (lol). My third one died the fastest and was the SE (Special Edition?) one; I liked the SE feel more, but again, these last <100 hours of play.

***I've also noticed that the cheap plastic cuts away at the wire nearest the mouse, which is a huge issue.

Looks like I'm going Fragnstein, and then XIM if the Fragnstein really does have "deadspots" I will miss having a wired mouse, though.

****************EDIT 3-22**************** ~30 hours of play with FragnStein
The fragNstein is much better. It feels like a CPU mouse, whereas the SplitFish didn't.

---SplitFish Pro's:
1) I played better than a controller, Button layout is a tad bit better than FNS (FragNstein) on the nun-chuck.
2) Pressure sensitive R1-R2.
3) I liked the SE Nunchuck a lot more than the V2, for both grip and button layout reasons.

Cons:
1) Longevity is horrid. All 3 lasted <150 hours of game play.
2) The cord running into the mouse gets cut by the cheap plastic of the mouse.
3) It's optical, and actually senses the mouse pad too far (AKA, when you lift the mouse, it moves your in game view)
4) No weight to it, so you lift the mouse more than normal.
5) Works like a controller joystick adapted to a mouse - When I move the mouse Distance-X + Speed-Y = Moving the joystick comparatively. Fragnstein feels like my computer mouse.
6) Sensitivity dial is worse than Fragnsteins sensitivity modification.
7) I played around with settings longer than I did Fragnsteins, but that could just be because I had in game settings already set up???? I doubt it, however.
8) Flimsy and non-durable.

---Fragnstein Pros:
1) The 2000dpi laser mouse definitely registers better than the 300dpi Splitfish Optical mouse. Feels just like playing on the computer now.
2) Speaking of which: I can use this for my computer.
3) The heavier weight; it's not flimsy.
4) My rechargable AA batteries (1 for the mouse and 1 for the nunchuck) lasted 30-40 hours.
5) The "Quick-reference Guide" had me playing in less than 5 mins as a newbie, and I had to resync with new batters, and I recognized what to do and did it on the fly.

Cons:
1) The X-Square-Tri-Circle buttons are sometimes hard to push.
2) Not pressure sensitive, but for my FPS, that doesn't matter to me - I prefer the real click of a mouse.
3) If you don't buy the USB-Extension Cord, you will have some interruptions in the wireless. I bought a 5$ 10-foot extension cord and lay the USB dongo on my lap (I play on my sofa) and have 0 issues now.
4) Nun-Chuck layout, the PS/power button is too close to the D-Pad, and It took my hand awhile to get used to how far down the D-pad is. Muscle memory = no longer a problem.

---------------------
(Here is my history of gaming: I have owned 3 mice for the CPU (for UT99, CS, DOD, DOD:S, CS:S, and TF2) These 3 mice are (2 razor copperhead - totaling at least 250 days /played WoW hours of gaming, and 1 (ONE) Logitech G5 for at least another 5000+ hours of gaming. I could even throw My 2000+ (account /stats) games on StarCraft and 200+ days (Yes, days or 4800 hours) of wow gaming onto those 3 mice.) .... So, in conclusion, I believe that I have a firm experience in how gaming mice should behave....) And, Yes, my like 20,000 hours of gaming is ridiculous, but at least I can rate my mice -.-

Look, as a lame kid who plays too much video games: Do not buy this mouse unless you're willing to spend (...)+ a year in getting new ones when your current one, ultimately, fails.

3Requires time and a great deal of patience to get used to itMar 22, 2010
I bought this controller last week and have been playing with it on MW2. I have only used it playing MW2, so I will rate this controller accordingly for MW2.

Ergonomics: It can get tiresome after a lengthy session of gaming, especially the fragchuck. My left hand would start cramping after a while.

The mouse: It could use a lot more weight to it and a bit more size as well. I don't have big hands and the mouse felt small to me. The X, Triangle, Square, and O buttons are well situated, but found myself having to swap the Triangle and X button functions. I found it uncomfortable pushing the X button to jump, since I virtually had to bend my thumb 90 degrees at the joint in order to press the X button. A bit jittery at times, but after setting the in-game sensitivity to max and adjusting on the fly during gameplay, usually remedied it. I would've liked this to have been laser instead of optical. The pressure sensitive left and right click mouse buttons take a while to get used to, but it only took me a few maps to get the hang of clicking with more pressure.

The fragchuck: Not as comfortable as a PS3 controller and the lack of being able to reassign the Frag button for either L1 or L2. I find it awkward to push the default L1 and Frag buttons at the same time, but found it easier to push the Frag button first, then roll my index finger over the L1 to hold both of them down (A small gripe, but I figured it should be mentioned). As I mentioned earlier, it gets tiring holding it while navigating your movement, pushing the "L" function buttons and the D-pad.

Gameplay: Took me a good 2-3 days to get the hang of it (still learning), especially the mouse aspect of it. If you are good at using the PS3 controller on MW2 and you decide to get this, be prepared to practically "re-learn" to play using the mouse. I was all over the place at first when I initially used this. I was overlooking my left and right and would at times find myself get totally disoriented when I would slide the mouse too far left/right/forward/backwards with the sensitivity too high. I found using the mouse to be better in terms of keeping my sight on a moving target. With the controller, I would have a hard time keeping track with a moving target while shooting, especially when that target suddenly changes direction. With the mouse, it was far more easier to follow the enemy's movement. I found myself doing better at aiming with the scope as a sniper on both stationary and mobile targets. Also, for me, I found it easier to look around with the mouse over the PS3 controller while on the move/run.

Button layout: Overall the layout is fine. I would've preferred the "Start/Swap" button be placed on the fragchuck or in the middle of the X, Triangle, Square, and O buttons. I say this, because on a few occasions, I would accidentally hit the "Start/Swap" button when I hit R3.

All in all a decent controller with a lot of room for improvement. (2 1/2 - 3 stars)
